NSBDF Knowledge-CoachingTM approach to training Knowledge-CoachingTM is a productive form of training for small groups which enables delegates to constructively explore and share their experience, knowledge and practice to solve current challenges and take positive steps in their professional field. The training takes the form of a coached action learning set and ensures that all delegates are fully engaged in and committed to the learning, ideas-development and outcomes. The fact is that in many situations where improvement is sought the reality is that there is no new information which will provide the missing answer. The real solution for the improvement lies in the more effective use of existing knowledge and experience and the effective development of one’s actions. Knowledge-CoachingTM recognises that there is almost always room to creatively re-visit existing knowledge, share ideas with fellow practitioners and take fresh action. Similarly it assumes that in many cases learners are already fully-equipped with the experience and knowledge for their role but that, for a variety of reasons, that knowledge is not always translated into action. Knowledge-CoachingTM is therefore not standard training. It seeks to generate a creative solutions-focused approach to improving professional practice through harnessing the joint skills, knowledge and experience of everyone in the session. The end product of each session will be tangible and practical ways forward tailored to each delegate in the form of agreed actions. Knowledge-CoachingTM ensures that every delegate will be able to explore their practice dilemmas in the context of other peoples’ experience and knowledge and provides a safe environment for thinking and voicing concerns and new ideas.
